2/5/2006: WUOG Podcasts: New and in the News
Lil' ol WUOG has been getting national attention with a write-up from the
Associated Press
which has been featured in The Canton Repository (in Canton, OH), The
Seattle Times, The Tampa Bay Times, Hampton Roads.com (featuring a
picture from Erin White of local artists
Hope for agoldensummer) and linked on the Pasedena Star News Site as well as Semissourian.com!
In keeping with news regarding our podcasts, a couple of WUOG DJ's interviewed High on Fire before their recent show at the 40 Watt. Check it out in the Live Fast Rules section of our Podcasts.
Thanks to everyone who came out to the open meeting, staff meetings,
impromptu pajama jam, and everyone who has been supporting and helping
contribute to the station. Keep up the good work so we can keep making
exciting things happen!!
1/24/2006: In with the New!!
That's right, it's that time of year again. Classes are starting,
buses are running, and WUOG is recruiting. We will be holding our OPEN MEETING January 31st at 6:30PM in the reception hall of the Tate Center for any and all of you lovely potential student volunteers.
Don't worry though, we've got something for current staffers to look forward to as well. You may or may not have guessed it: DJ TRAINING! Applications will be up in the station lobby on the training board and are due back in the training mailbox on January 30th at 4:30PM.
We are seeking any and all staffers with at least 6 weeks of
volunteering under their belts and the desire to either jockey the
airwaves like some sort of terrible equestrian metaphor or produce like
something I can't think of a clever metaphor to describe.
I doubt there will be punch or pie but I hope to see some shiny new
faces regardless! And if these events hold no interest or relevance to
you, well, we'll have something coming your way soon. Just keep waiting
on them tenterhook. How bout THAT for a terrible metaphor! See, there's
something for you after all. Silliness! And the continued precense of
everybody's favorite 24/7 college radio station! Hooray!
1/17/2006: The Mad Housers on WUOG
Tune in this Saturday, January 21st, to hear DJ's Katherine and Alyssa
interview The Mad Housers. The Mad Housers are a group of volunteers
from Atlanta who build emergency housing and huts for the homeless.
They are invovled in ATHica's latest exhibit on homelessness and
Saturday night after the interview will build one of their huts at the
opening of their exhibit at ATHica. For more information on The Mad
Housers, visit
their website; or for more information on ATHica follow

Flagpole says:"As
one of only a few local solo performers able to immediately make a mark
in a crowded scene, Adams needed nothing more than her pronounced,
ringing vocal style and primitively rhythmic acoustic guitar."
12/6/2005: WUOG makes The Red and Black
WUOG's podcasts got some awesome publicity this week from the campus paper.
"Right
now, WUOG only has podcasts that Web site visitors can subscribe to,
but in the next few weeks the station plans to stream MP3s. Also, it is
continuing to find other radio station affiliates to carry WUOG's
programs.
"WUOG is sending sampler CDs to other college radio
stations with similar programming and asking them to contact the
station to possibly broadcasted their shows in the future. Soon,
students in California could be listening to shows broadcast at the
University, while students in Athens are hearing programs from New
York."
