Lodging and Transportation

Transportation Athens is approximately 90 minutes from Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. For those of you who will be flying in, there is a shuttle that runs directly from the ATL airport to the Holiday Inn, which is this year's conference hotel and is adjacent to the UGA campus, only a five minute-walk to the on-campus meeting space.

Shuttle information can be found at the AAA Airport Express website or via email at aaaairportexpress@aol.com.

Hotel information can be obtained from the Athens Holiday Inn. When booking your hotel reservation, please use the code "SSI" or tell them you are booking for the Couch-Stone Symposium. We have booked four blocks of rooms, ranging from $75/night (with exterior doors and no breakfast) to $115/night (with interior doors, continental breakfast, and contemporary amenities). Please ask for further information from the Holiday Inn staff. We will have coffee and breads both mornings at the meetings, so those on a tight budget may choose to forego the inclusive hotel breakfast.

Activities Since many of you will be coming from colder climates, we are in the early stages of planning a Saturday afternoon excusion to get outside and enjoy a bit of nature. Our actual destination will depend on how many people plan on attending. Because Athens is known for its restaurants, we are also planning on group dinner. Again, the particulars will be decided in the near future, once we have a sense of people's preferences.
